The pages that make up the Origin Story of this site follow a clear timeline. They outline the major stages of a journey that moved through several very different worlds engineering influences at home, hands-on mechanical work, the 12-volt electronics industry, the early internet era, and eventually the creation of Bikes Built Better.
But timelines rarely tell the whole story.
Behind every turning point were situations, decisions, and often emotions that shaped what happened next. Many of the opportunities that appeared over the years were not carefully planned. They grew out of unexpected circumstances, conversations with the right people at the right time, or lessons learned the hard way.
Those moments are harder to capture in a structured chapter.
They are better told as individual stories.
This section of the site exists to preserve those stories the projects, people, ideas, and sometimes strange coincidences that influenced the direction of the work. Some will focus on early technology and the rapid changes that defined the internet’s early years. Others will document motorcycle projects, small business challenges, or the individuals who helped shape the path along the way.
Looking back, it becomes clear that progress rarely happens in a straight line.
Situations create pressure.
Decisions create consequences.
And emotions often drive people to take risks they might otherwise avoid.
Out of that mixture, opportunities appear.
The diversity of experiences that shaped this journey mechanical work, electronics, early web development, business partnerships, and friendships formed along the way all contributed something to the direction the story eventually took.
The goal of this site is not simply to document events.
It is to preserve the context around them.
Because sometimes the most important lessons are not found in the timeline itself, but in the stories that happened between the dates.
